Recipes for Detoxification

Unless you choose to live your life in an airtight bubble, your body is going to be exposed to toxins. Even in the healthiest of people, these toxins can end up accumulating in our organs and lead to some serious health problems down the road. Because of this, it is vital to put the body through a detox regimen. One way in which you can detoxify is to go on a detox diet. A detoxifying diet can help push the toxins out of your system leading to better health and wellness. Also, going on a detoxifying diet does not necessarily mean eating and drinking weird taking things with strange names, in fact, all these recipes feature things that you can easily find in your local super market or health food store.

Detoxifying Morning Drinks:

Mix Together 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice.1 Tablespoon of Black Strap Molasses, 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil, Pinch of Cayenne Pepper, Half a Cup of Warm Water and drink every morning to help cleanse your body. If you own a juicer, a good alternative morning drink involves juicing together one carrot, one cucumber, a celery stick and a half of a beet root.

The Lemon Juice Diet

A lot of the toxins that get into your system arrive via the solids that we eat. If order to help cleanse your body and give your liver a break, try replacing one or two meals with lemon juice for two weeks. Mix together 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of brown rice syrup and a dash of grated ginger and drink whenever you feel hungry.

Fresh Fruit

Know that fresh clean feeling that you get whenever you eat fresh fruit? That's actually your body detoxifying. Strawberries, bananas, apples, cantaloupe, watermelon, and pretty much every other fruits can help your body get rid of toxins. Try making a healthy fruit salad complete with lemon zest, honey and soft tofu to help cleanse your diet. You can also try eating nothing but fruit (especially apples) for a period of three days in order to bring about the cleansing process.

Vegetable Broth

Vegetables are also a great way to detoxify the body. Chop up 2 cups of spinach, 2 cups of broccoli heads, 3 cups of celery, 2 cups of red potato peels (organic of course) and one small zucchini. Put these veggies together with 2 quarts of distilled water and bring to a boil and then simmer for 30 minutes. Strain and the broth is ready to drink. This broth will keep for up to three days in the fridge.
