7 Homemade Detox Drinks for Weight Loss

These homemade detox drinks for weight loss are a natural way to melt the fat fast. Detoxification removes toxins and helps you reach your weight loss goals in a relatively short period of time. So naturally it’s a good idea to detox your body on a regular basis.

It’s important to note, if you plan on drinking only detoxification drinks for more than a few days, make sure your current health status allows you to change from your normal diet to a detox diet. Before doing any kind of long-term or drastic detox you should consult with a doctor.

With that said, here are 7 homemade detox drinks to help you lose weight:

  1. Tea: Tea is a natural detox drink that expels toxins from your system. Dandelion tea, green tea, peppermint tea, and ginger tea are especially effective in supporting weight loss. Drink 3-5 cups of tea daily to support your weight loss efforts.
  2. Cranberry Juice: Cranberry juice enhances the body’s metabolism, which is essential to converting fats into energy instead of excess weight. Along with eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, drinking cranberry juice is a very effective way to lose weight. Plus, this detox drink also helps clear nicotine and alcohol from your system in just about four days. Drink at least 32 ounces of 100% natural organic cranberry juice every day.
  3. Cabbage Juice: Cabbage is very effective for detoxifying your liver. And because your liver is responsible for the detoxification of your body, it is an essential part of your detox and weight loss plan. If you have a juicer, juice up some cabbage, carrots and pears for a deliciously refreshing detox drink.
  4. Cabbage Broth: For a satisfying hot drink, simmer a head of cabbage along with carrots, onions and a pinch of salt, then strain and drink. You can also add other vegetables to pack more nutrients into this hot detox drink, which is very effective for detoxifying your liver.
  5. Cucumber and Lemon: This might seem like a surprising combination, but the effects of these two ingredients was tested by professional nutritionists and found to be a very effective detox and weight loss drink. All you have to do is use a blender to mix 1 cucumber sliced into tiny pieces and the juice half a lemon. Drink at least 2 times per day. This detox drink boosts your metabolism, which is essential for losing weight quickly, and you’ll notice how it loads you with energy.
  6. Master Cleanse Lemonade: This is probably the most popular detox drink for weight loss in the industry. It was made famous by celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Beyoncé Knowles because it is an extremely effective detox drink for weight loss and for improving your skin complexion. This is a perfect homemade detox drink to lose weight fast. Mix lemon juice, organic maple syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper into a 10 oz. glass of water. Sip on this drink all day for best results.
  7. Salt Water Cleanse: At the start of your detox, you might want to do a salt water detox to cleanse your digestive system and prepare your body for weight loss. Do this on a day when you have plenty of time to stay home near the bathroom as it will run through your body very quickly. Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of natural sea salt into one quart of lukewarm water. Do not use table salt; it will not have the same effect. Stir or shake until the salt is dissolved. Drink and then relax. Most people report a bowel movement within 30 minutes to two hours and several more may follow. Once you have cleansed your system, restore it by eating yogurt to replenish the beneficial bacteria in your digestive tract, drink juice, and eat fresh, soft-cooked and steamed fruits and vegetables.

In addition to these detox drinks, make sure to eat lots of veggies, fruits and whole grain foods that fill you up and give you the best chance for quickly losing weight.

So What’s The Deal With Detoxing Side-Effects, Anyway?

We get asked about detoxification side-effects often. Whether you may be embarking on a Metabolic Cleanse or dissolving biofilms, you may experience some brief, but not-so-pleasant side effects. This isn’t unusual, but can make our patients nervous if they don’t know exactly what they may feel during the process.

Metabolic cleanses are designed to get your system running optimally again. They include active ingredients to help heal the liver and pancreas and to get bile and toxins moving in the right direction (well, technically, the bile starts doing its job correctly again, and the toxins are permanently evicted from your system).

Biofilms, in brief, are gelatinous, protective coverings that are developed by pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, yeasts and even fungus and parasites, in order for them to successfully thwart the effectiveness of medications and supplementation meant to destroy them. Fairly nifty example of evolution at work, although, not much fun for their human hosts! In patients where low-grade pathogenic infections are preventing wellness we seek to dissolve these coverings in order to better battle the pathogens themselves. It’s nearly impossible for supplements, and even prescription antivirals and antibiotics, to be fully effective against these nasties until their protective coverings are dissolved. Enter stage right: Monolaurin (we recommend Lauricidin brand in our practice), which is a proteolytic enzyme that helps break down these films, and Serrapeptase, a derivative harvested from silkworms (we know, wild stuff, right?)! Needless to say, the pathogens that have found their way into human bodies really like their accommodations, they don’t want to be evicted or killed off. They will put up a fight! They will eventually die off as the medications and supplements we take begin to work and as these pathogen die they release toxins which the body must filter.

These are not always easy processes for the people involved. Although, we know from years in practice and much scholarly evidence, they will feel exponentially better once the process is complete. It’s just the getting through it part that can be a little uncomfortable, while wellness remains the ultimate goal.

Common side-effects from Metabolic cleanses and biofilm dissolution can include: fatigue, mild swelling, stomach upset (gas, bloating, diarrhea), aches and pains in the joints, rashes and sometimes hives, as well as brain fog and mild anxiety (generally brought on by the “not knowing” and the overall feeling of being unwell, if only temporary).

If you are experiencing any combination of these side-effects, please know they are completely normal and nothing to worry about. We know they can be uncomfortable but they are short lived. They are generally only noticeable for the first 24 to 72 hours and will subside thereafter. Our advice is as follows: Get plenty of rest. Sleep is essential whether our immune system is battling something or not. It is that much more important when we are not feeling our best. Our bodies regenerate and do their best immune work at rest. During detoxification make sure you are getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night. Drink lots of water. You want to keep well hydrated and your system flushed. This will help hasten the process and will help get you through it faster. If your symptoms begin to make you feel sick to your stomach, especially fatigued, or the brain fog becomes a hindrance, you can reach for activated charcoal (which you’ll take about an hour or so after your detoxification supplements, as to give them the chance to work without being absorbed by the charcoal and removed from your system inadvertently). You can start with one capsule and increase to two if your symptoms don’t lessen. Although, we find that one capsule is enough activated charcoal to bind with these toxins and biofilms in order to move them out of your system. Also, a teaspoon of Bentonite Clay mixed with a little water and consumed with your detoxification protocol works as well and in the same way as activated charcoal.

The benefits of detoxification far outweigh the discomforts they bring and again, are not permanent and do not generally last long. Some people will actually go through the process without a single physical sign that things are working as they should. If these tips don’t help the way you feel during a detoxification always consult your practitioner to review the timing and dosage of your protocol.

Zeolite – A Quick and Effective Way to Detox

Ever wonder why you feel so run down from doing relatively little? Do you feel like you are gradually slowing down? Unfortunately, many of us ignore these symptoms as a sign of getting older but they are in fact signs of increasing toxicity. Unfortunately, toxins have become an extremely common part of modern living. Our bodies are constantly under attack from the air pollution, water contaminates as well as the pesticides and preservatives in our food.

Many of these chemicals are stored in our bodies and continue to accumulate over time, raising our toxicity and lowering our body’s efficiency. Regular detoxification is becoming essential for our general well being. There are many detoxification products on the market but powdered zeolite supplements are by far the best means of detox. For one, Zeolite supplements have been shown to be very effective in the safe removal of toxins and there are no side effects associated with this product at any level.

Secondly, a detoxification program using zeolite is as easy to administer as taking daily vitamins. This allows for people to easily make their detox part of their daily routine. There is so much information to wade through when it comes to zeolite supplements. Here are the main points to remember when looking for a zeolite supplement.

Pure clinoptinolite is king.

All the independently published studies have been done on zeolite powder (clinoptinolite). The liquid zeolite was originally developed to be injected into cancer tumors. The experiment found the liquefied zeolite ineffective, mainly because the process of liquefying the zeolite broke the molecular cage structure rendering it useless. This same product was later re-marketed as an ingestible drug. There have been no independently published studies on the effectiveness of liquid zeolite and many resellers refer to studies done on zeolite powder found in the US Library of Medicine.

Don’t trust any supplement that doesn’t have a supplement label.

It is illegal for supplement manufacturers to produce supplements without supplement facts. If the product contains proprietary ingredients, that should also be explained in the supplement facts. It is best to steer clear of companies and products that don’t have supplement facts posted clearly on the packaging.

Know how much zeolite you are getting for your buck.

Use the supplement facts find your cost per unit of zeolite. Multiply the amount of zeolite per serving by the amount of servings in the container to calculate your total zeolite. Then divide the price of the product by the total units (usually mg) to find the cost per unit of zeolite. This is an easy way of comparing cost of zeolite supplements from multiple companies.

Use zeolite for humans, not cat boxes

In addition to being a supplement, zeolite can be used in a host of different products. Companies mine zeolite and sell that zeolite for products like concrete and kitty liter. Using this quality of zeolite for a supplement can be hazardous because the mining and the cleaning process did not have the type of quality controls usually applied for a product meant for human consumption.

Make sure that your zeolite supplement manufacturer only uses zeolite mined specifically for human consumption. Following these few points will help to narrow the field of zeolite supplement to ensure you get the best quality for your dollar. Using Zeolite to detoxify is the best way to get your body in balance and remove the toxins and heavy metals that zap your body of efficiency and energy.

The Most Gentle Ways To Cleanse Your Body

It’s important to know the gentlest modes of cleansing your body so that you can keep it clean on a regular basis and avoid any harmful consequences that arise from shocking your body with an abrupt change. I’m predisposed to hypoglycemia, a condition that keeps your blood sugar low, so fasting is out of the question for me. Every time I’ve tried, I become faint and my vision gets weird after a short time. I love using these methods of cleansing and I think you will, too.

Exfoliate and Soak

Your skin, your epidermis, is the largest organ of your body and has the same ability to store toxins as any other. According to one doctor, Dr. Hazel Parcells, 65% of body cleansing is done through this organ. To allow the toxins to leave your body through your pores, you have to slough off any dead skin and residual product that may be clogging them. Using a body scrub, such as a sugar scrub, or a loofah of your choosing are both effective ways of removing dead skin and residue from your body. Be sure to thoroughly exfoliate every inch to allow your body to do its job meeting you halfway in this effort to cleanse.

Before or after your exfoliation, you can create a detoxifying bathtub soak of baking soda and Epsom salt. Baking soda is responsible for alleviating exposure to contaminated foods, swollen glands, and any soreness related to the mouth. It can also aid in digestion and other forms of inflammation. The Epsom salt is beneficial to heart health and your circulatory system. It can lower your blood pressure and improve nerve function by regulating your electrolytes. It’s also very well known for relieving joint pain, muscle strain, and bruises. Epsom salt can assist the body in releasing harmful substances and drugs from the body, too.

Drink Plenty of H2O

Upon recent research, you should only drink as much H2O as you would when you are thirsty, but if you are going to do the aforementioned bathtub soak, you should drink fluids while you detox in that manner. You may feel tired or dehydrated during or after the soak, so be sure that someone is home and that you are not needing to be anywhere for some time. As far as daily water consumption goes, start intentionally hydrating throughout your day and find out how much you naturally drink when you are thirsty. Some recommend you drink half your weight in ounces. It is, no doubt, an important piece to your health puzzle because we are made up of 70% water and both our brain and heart is made up of 73%.

Green Tea, Infused Water

Green Tea detoxes your body with its antioxidants, the same way an infused water recipe would. The antioxidants are actually just supporting your body’s own ability to detox itself. The Green Tea antioxidant is called Polyphenols and they fight free radicals, cells in the body that need to be eradicated before causing damage. It also encourages other systems in the body to detox, but in this article, we’ll keep it simple. If you aren’t a fan of caffeine at the moment, a good alternative is a fruit infused water and there are a number of recipes with plenty of antioxidants on the web.

Small Diet Adjustments

Certain foods are harder to digest than others, and of course, every body is different in this regard. Everyone has their own tolerances and sometimes, allergies to certain food groups or ingredients. When you’re sick and not keeping food down, some will tell you to reduce your food intake to the B.R.A.T. Diet. B.R.A.T. Stands for bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast, some foods known for easier digestion and other benefits. For a broader sense of what your specific body is tolerant of, you can try doing an elimination diet. One I’ve done is called Low F.O.D.M.A.P. (Fermentable Oligo-, Di-, Mono-saccharides, and Polyols) Diet. The acronym is named after some common carbohydrates known to be difficult to digest, so you begin with the lowest F.O.D.M.A.P. Scored foods and introduce harder to digest foods a little at a time to discover how your body reacts. You can also simply log your diet and how you feel after eating each meal and in the coming days, and you might make some surprising discoveries.

Guided Meditation

Your physical body and your emotional body are more interconnected than you’ll ever know, so part of your cleansing should involve mental cleansing, too. One passive way to cleanse your subconscious is by enjoying a guided meditation. Nature sounds and deep breathing to flood your cells with oxygen are also nice additions. You can find a wide variety of guided meditations with different focuses on YouTube. Try a different one every day or night and save the ones you like to a playlist dedicated to your mental cleanses.

Regular Journaling

Another way to dump your unwanted thoughts and feelings is to leave them on paper. Purchase a journal for this specific purpose and vow not to care what or how you write in it. If you run out of things to write about, you can look up ‘365 days of journal prompts’ on Google.
